Sky Sports is to launch its coverage of the 2013-2014 Heineken Cup by airing 12 live matches in a single weekend.

The broadcaster will show all 24 teams and almost 24 hours of live European rugby union coverage between October 11th and 13th.

Highlights of the opening weekend will be the clash between Ulster and current Aviva Premiership champions Leicester Tigers, Saracens v Connacht, and Edinburgh v Munster.

Sky Sports viewers will be able to enjoy 45 live televised fixtures from the first four rounds of the cup, with each British and Irish team featuring at least three times.

Gus Williamson, Executive Producer for Sky Sports Rugby Union, said that following a victorious Lions tour, the new European season is eagerly anticipated.

"The opening weekend is going to be immense, with all 24 teams shown live," he stated.

"Add this to an unprecedented schedule from the international and domestic game and it’s going to be an incredible rugby season for Sky Sports viewers."

As well as the Heineken Cup, viewers will be able to enjoy action from the Rugby Championship, Amlin Challenge Cup, QBE Internationals, IRB Sevens World Series and LV=Cup in 2013-14 on Sky Sports.
