Vodafone has carried out a successful 4G trial using small cell technology on 2.6Ghz spectrum.

The service provider deployed 4G mobile services at Huawei’s UK headquarters, providing mobile broadband speeds of up to 82Mb and uploads of up to 24Mb.

Vodafone and Huawei worked together on the launch, with a view to offering the technology to medium-sized and large businesses in the future.

Fergal Kelly, Chief Technology Officer at Vodafone UK, said he was "delighted" to see 2.6Ghz in action on small cell technology and the "impressive" data speeds it offers.

"I’m also impressed with the rapid response from Huawei to this innovation challenge from Vodafone," he stated.

Mr Kelly explained that the service has launched a year to the day since the initial discussions.

"Such pace of innovation will be invaluable to Vodafone as we continue to build out the UK’s strongest network," he stated.
