TalkTalk now has more than one million TV viewers on its YouView-based platform.

The service provider - which offers Freeview channels, on-demand content and seven-day catch-up services - added another 185,000 subscribers in the first three months of 2014.

This took the viewer base to 917,000 at the end of March, and continued growth has seen TalkTalk push through the one million mark by mid-May.

Dido Harding, Chief Executive at the service provider, explained that around a quarter of the firm's customer base is now watching TalkTalk TV via a YouView set-top box.

"We have built a TV business with over one million customers in just 18 months," she noted.

"We continue to grow faster than all the other UK operators put together and are confident that, in time, all our customers will take TV."

TalkTalk TV customers have the option of signing up for premium content - such as Sky Sports - on an ad-hoc basis.

Viewers can bolt TV Boosts to their contract for one month at a time, with no long-term commitment necessary.
