Vodafone is to launch 4G services in another five major UK towns this summer, it has been reported.

Super-fast mobile broadband is coming to Basingstoke, Bournemouth, Portsmouth, Reading and Southampton during mid-2014.

According to Vodafone, another one million people and 35,000 businesses will be able to take advantage of its 4G services following the deployment.

The broadband provider is aiming to roll out 4G services to cover 98 per cent of the UK by the end of 2015.

Fergal Kelly, Chief Technology Officer of Vodafone UK, said mobile connectivity plays "a vital role" in keeping communities in touch and helping to support the local economy.

"Our network improvements will ensure thousands of businesses and hundreds of thousands of consumers in the south of England will have a better opportunity to take part in the growing [mobile] revolution, whether they are at work, at home or on holiday," he stated.
