Zen Internet has confirmed that line rental prices for homes and businesses are to stay on hold until 2020.

According to Andrew Fryatt, Managing Director of Zen, many of the larger broadband and telephone providers have recently announced considerable increases in monthly rental costs, ISPreview.co.uk reports.

He noted that this happens in the UK every year, despite the fact that wholesale prices have remained fairly low for some time.

"At Zen, we are committed to ensuring our customers benefit from a value product backed up by first-class customer care and a carrier-grade broadband connection," he commented.

"That’s why we’re freezing line rental costs for the next four years."

The move comes shortly after Vodafone announced it has abolished line rental charges for new and upgrading fibre optic home broadband customers.

Vodafone has billed this as an "industry first" that makes its home broadband pricing structure more transparent and easier to understand.
