The delayed YouView project has moved a step closer to completion, with the publication of the final core technical specification for a set-top box.

A single technical document, detailing the core YouView interoperability specification for launch, has been made available on the YouView website.

Manufacturers can now use this to bring products to market sharing the same underlying technologies as a YouView device.

"Through promoting common technical standards for connected TV, consumers will get the widest possible range of devices supporting high quality content," said Richard Halton, Chief Executive Officer at YouView.

Meanwhile, Huawei, Manhattan, Pace and Vestel have been added to the list of YouView channel partners. They join Cisco, Humax and Technicolor as manufacturers who have already committed to developing YouView set-top boxes.

"All of these companies have demonstrated expertise in bringing consumer electronics products to market," Mr Halton stated.
