Virgin Media looks set to unveil its new 4K set-top box on November 30th.
Invites to journalists resembling a cinema ticket have been sent out for that date, which looks to be the day when questions about the new TiVo box will get answered.
Speculation about the set-top box has been rife for some time, prompting us uSwitch googleboxers to put together a wish-list of what we'd like to see from it earlier this year.
A tactile and user-friendly remote control was flagged up as a priority, on the grounds that the six-year-old TiVo remote looks a little old-fashioned today, especially when compared with Sky Q's touch-sensitive pad.
The option to record more channels at the same time was also on our most-wanted list, as Sky Q has 12 tuners, compared to three on the TiVo box, as well as more visually appealing menus.
Given that Virgin Media needs to keep up with Sky Q's ability to offer portable recordings, we expect the new Tivo box to offer something similar too.
But while Virgin Media has posted teasing shots of the device on its Twitter page, few firm details about its functionality have been disclosed as yet.
Sky Q launched earlier this year and was immediately touted as a game-changer, thanks to 4K functionality and features such as the ability to pause programmes in one room and pick up from the same point on another device.
It is likely that Virgin Media's new set-top box will go on sale early next year, while we would also expect existing customers to be given the chance to get hold of it first.
