Vodafone has announced two new broadband tariffs, but it’s also backing them with a guarantee – if you don’t get the guaranteed speed at any point during the course of your contract, you’re entitled to money off your bill.
It’s aimed at giving customers more reliable broadband speeds; instead of telling you which speeds you might get under ideal conditions, it’s promising you’ll get these speeds at all times. And if you don’t, you’re quids in.
Here’s everything you need to know.
1 It comes in two packages
Superfast 1 is the lower-speed package, with a guaranteed speed of at least 25Mbps for £21 a month. Speeds could reach as high as 38Mbps.
Those wanting a quicker connection will want to opt for Superfast 2, which gives a minimum speed of 55Mbps and could reach as high as 76Mbps. It costs £26 a month.
2 Both come with a speed guarantee
The 25Mbps and 55Mbps figures aren’t ‘up to’ speeds, which the advertising watchdog is clamping down on. Rather, they’re the speeds you’ll get at all times. And Vodafone is putting its money where its mouth is.
If your connection drops below the quoted speed at any point, you’ll get 15 per cent off your monthly bill.
The discount remains in place as long as your speed stays below the advertised guarantee. So if it runs on for two months, you’ll get 15 per cent off your bill both months.
These guarantees also apply to small business customers.
3 You claim via the Vodafone Broadband app
Install the app, and you can claim your discount, should your speed dip. The money will be added to your account immediately.
You can also use the app to check your broadband speed, so it’s like a one-stop shop.
4 It could save you up to £311
Superfast 1 costs £21 a month (£23 a month for new customers) on a minimum 18-month contract. That could save you £311 over the length of the contract, compared with BT Infinity 1.
Though it’s not a direct comparison – Infinity 1 promises speed up to 52Mbps, and includes landline calls as well.
5 It’s available from 1st March
The deal kicks in from 1st March, which is tomorrow. And if you switch broadband provider to Vodafone before 3rd April, you’ll get free delivery, which usually costs £9.99.
