The appeal of Sky and Virgin Media's pay-TV and broadband bundles has been boosted by the launch of channel Alibi in high definition (HD).

Owned by broadcaster UKTV, Alibi is home to some of the best British and American crime drama - with the likes of New Tricks, Wallander, Dalziel and Pascoe, Missing and Diagnosis Murder on the playlist.

TV subscribers will now be able to watch their favourite shows in HD, helping to improve their viewing experience.

Alibi has also acquired the exclusive UK rights to two hot new US drama series - The Glades and White Collar - from Twentieth Century Fox Television Distribution.

The Glades - described as a "smash hit" in North America - sees cocky Chicago detective Jim Longworth attempt to solve murder mysteries in the rather different setting of south-east Florida.

And White Collar follows convicted fraudster and skilled criminal Neal Caffrey as he helps FBI agent Peter Burke solve crimes as part of his sentencing conditions.

Steve Hornsey, General Manager of Alibi, said both series have proved "hugely popular" in America and are the perfect fit for the channel's remit of showcasing the best crime drama available.

"We are confident they will prove must-see shows for our viewers and we are delighted they will be able to enjoy them in HD," he stated.
