New Virgin Media broadband customers on certain packages can enjoy a speed upgrade at no extra cost for a limited time thanks to a new sale.
The offer is available on certain VIVID broadband and TV packages and sees users' broadband speeds doubled from around 50Mbps to 100Mbps, or from 100Mbps to 200Mbps.
Among the packages to be included in the offer, according to ISPReview.co.uk, are the VIVID 50 broadband and phone offer, which costs £27 a month for a 12-month contract and offers unlimited internet usage. This usually provides average download speeds of 54Mbps, but now gives consumers typical speeds of 108Mbps.
Also included is the firm's Player TV bundle, which offers the same broadband and phone services as the VIVID 50 package, but also comes with access to more than 70 TV channels to watch at home or on the move. This will cost £32 a month, again for a 12-month contract.
For those wanting faster speeds or more choice of entertainment, customers can also choose the Mix TV bundle or the Full House bundle, both of which have seen their average download speeds increased from 108Mbps to 213Mbps.
The Mix TV bundle will cost £47 a month and provides access to more than 150 TV channels, including ten Sky entertainment channels. Full House, meanwhile, comes with a price tag of £57 a month for 12 months, but for this, you do get 230 channels.
All these bundles include Virgin Media's SuperHub v3 wireless router, free UK weekend calls, internet security and parental controls and access to Virgin's network of Wi-Fi hotspots around the UK. The TV packages also come shipped with the company's V6 set-top box.
New customers will, however, have to pay a one-off £20 installation fee in order to get started.
