Virgin Media is expanding its Glasgow network, giving 5,000 more households the opportunity to sign up for its super-fast broadband and TV bundles.
Work is underway to connect more households in Cumbernauld, Duntocher, Barrhead and Uddingston, ensuring they can access the firm's broadband services, which can reach up to 152Mb.
The network expansion is set to be complete by the end of November 2014, meaning households could be connected in time for Christmas.
Tom Mockridge, Virgin Media’s Chief Executive Officer, said the company is "proud to be supercharging Glasgow" with fibre broadband services.
He claimed the firm's network is helping to build an "exciting digital future" for people living and working in Scotland's second city.
Gordon Matheson, Leader of Glasgow City Council, said the local authority wants everyone to be included in the digital age - from young people, businesses and the elderly.
"I’m delighted that Virgin Media is investing in the city’s digital future and bringing super-fast broadband to more homes in Glasgow," he stated.
