Virgin Media news

Virgin Media has confirmed that faster upload speeds are currently being trialled among some of its existing customers.

According to ISPreview.co.uk, some subscribers had recently noticed that their upstreams were several megabits above the normal level after carrying out speed tests of their Virgin Media connection.

Virgin Media has since revealed to the news provider that this is because it is testing faster upload speeds on a trial basis, which could potentially pave the way for a future upgrade.

"We’re always exploring and testing new ideas," a spokesperson commented.

"We’re currently trialling [faster upload speeds] amongst a small group of existing broadband customers that will provide an optimised experience to those who spend a lot of time online."

The spokesperson added that it will reveal more details in due course.
