Virgin Media says the results of a new independent study prove its Super Hub is faster than those offered by BT, Sky and TalkTalk.
The broadband provider has highlighted research conducted by Farncombe, in partnership with the University of Bristol, which found the Virgin Media Super Hub to be around 30 per cent faster than its closest competitor.
For the study, researchers looked at how the various hubs performed in a number of different environments, including the home.
In the 2.4GHz frequency, the Virgin Media Super Hub achieved average speeds of 80.8Mb, compared to 62Mb for the BT Home Hub 4, 44.3Mb for the TalkTalk Hub and 13.5Mb for the Sky Hub.
Joe Lathan, Director of Broadband at Virgin Media, said the firm's new Super Hub router is designed to deliver a "best-in-breed Wi-Fi experience".
"It's great to see the results of the testing by Farncombe and the University of Bristol reflect this," he stated.
"Our hub is clearly head and shoulders above the rest when it comes to speed, delivering the fastest wireless connections throughout the home compared to kit from our competitors."
